Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) – What You Need to Know in 2025
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program helping Canadians without private dental insurance access affordable dental care. If your household income is under $90,000 and you don’t have other coverage (like through work or a government program), you may qualify.
Village Dental in Etobicoke is proud to participate in the CDCP, making it easier for eligible patients to get care with reduced costs.
How Much Does CDCP Cover?
Coverage depends on your income. You may need to pay a co-payment (a percentage of the cost) depending on your income level.
Adjusted Family Net Income | CDCP Pays | You Pay |
---|---|---|
Under $70,000 | 100% | 0% |
$70,000 – $79,999 | 60% | 40% |
$80,000 – $89,999 | 40% | 60% |
What’s Covered Under CDCP?
The plan covers a range of essential dental services, including:
- Dental exams and cleanings
- X-rays and fluoride treatments
- Fillings, root canals, and extractions
- Dentures and denture repairs
Some services require pre-approval, especially more complex procedures. Since November 1, 2024, dentists have been able to request preauthorization from Health Canada for these treatments.
